Data sharing on ARBOGEN

ARBOGEN maintains a global dataset of arbovirus genomes along with associated metadata including virological, ecological, clinical, and epidemiological information, with the aim of facilitating the access, sharing, and analysis of this data.

The data deposited on ARBOGEN can be defined as two main components: the sequence in itself, and the metadata (virological, ecological, clinical, and epidemiological information) attached to it. Data can be deposited in the ARBOGEN database under three different statuses:

  • For private data, the sequences and attached metadata are only accessible to the owner of the data with the exception of the genotype, sampling date and infection location information attached to the sequence. The latter can be used to represent the data under aggregated formats such as histograms or maps.
  • Semi-private sequences (and attached metadata) are shared between the owner of the data and other ARBOGEN users specified by the data owner upon its explicit request. As for private sequences, the genotype, sampling date, and infection location information attached to the sequence can be used to represent the data under aggregated formats such as histograms or maps.
  • Public sequences and their attached metadata are shared freely between the owner of the sequence and other ARBOGEN users.
